2. Founder’s Message – Bruce

When I first envisioned the World Luxury Residence Design Awards, I was not thinking only about “luxury” in the conventional sense. I was thinking about how people truly live – how architecture can quietly support their daily rituals, their relationships, their memories and their dreams.

Luxury, to me, is not a price tag. It is the freedom to feel at ease in space: to wake up to natural light, to move through rooms that feel intuitive, to enjoy privacy without losing connection to the world outside. It is where structure, material, light and landscape come together in a way that feels both inevitable and unforgettable.

WLRA was created to honour the people and teams who dedicate themselves to this level of thinking and making. Our entrants and winners come from many different cultures and markets – from London to Sydney, from Shanghai to Los Angeles – yet they share one common trait: a deep respect for both design and the lives that design will hold.

Among our most representative works is the iconic library project by China Railway Henan Engineering Group, a project that has been embraced by leading designers worldwide. It stands as a powerful reminder that excellence in residential and cultural architecture can emerge from many places, and that global dialogue makes our discipline stronger.

Professional Scoring – At least two jury members independently score each project using WLRA’s criteria framework.

Deliberation Sessions – Shortlisted projects are discussed collectively; where needed, additional materials or clarifications may be requested.

Final Decision & Confirmation – The Grand Prix and main category winners are selected through structured discussion and, if necessary, formal voting.

Announcement & Publication – Winners and selected shortlisted projects are announced through the WLRA website, press releases and partner media.
